Job Summary

Working closely with the Design Engineer covering all aspects relating to project's installation design activities, you will be responsible for the delivery of agreed installation designs based on System Designs and Surveys, ensuring compliance against Network Rail standards and the Project deliverables.   With responsibility for the overall office and site based field engineering support to the telent Rail Projects team along with production of all Installation documentation associated for each project (for example: Cable Running Out Lists, Terminating Strips, Jumpering Schedules, Rack Face Layouts and Floor plans). You should be motivated to delivering installation design solutions that are both ‘fit for purpose' and cost effective in terms of its implementation.

Key objectives

• To ensure correct delivery of the Project, co-ordinating Installation Design documentation with the System Design Engineers, Installation (Field) Engineers and Project Managers.
• Production of client format method statements for survey and installation related activities.
• Production of documentation for the purpose of identifying the condition of existing infrastructure, including survey Proformas and Dilapidation Reports.
• Co-ordination of Installation (Field) Engineers and Sub-contractors in the performing of site surveys.
• To produce detailed materials ordering lists and site documentation packs with recommended supplier information, procurement specifications and quotations.
• To provide regular reports to the PM, reports to include progress/plan on all agreed documentation deliverables
• To effectively resolve any issues and changes that may affect the accuracy of the Installation Field support pack.

• To ensure that all amendments are captured and documented following a successful installation

Requirements

• Engineering Technical Qualification:   HNC/HND minimum or equivalent
• Experience in delivering installation design solutions incorporating some of the following technologies: -
• Transmission (SDH and PDH)
• Cable Networks (Fibre and Copper)
• Customer Information Systems
• Driver Only Operated CCTV
• SCADA
• Radio Systems (GSMR, CSR, NRN)
• Telephone Concentrators/PBX
• Lineside Operational Communications
• Working knowledge of HSE, CDM and Safety Critical Works Regulations
• A team player, with exceptional attention to detail, you will have the ability to persuade and influence, working closely with the field force.

Desirable Skills  

• IRSE membership
• PTS
• Railway Lineside and Station installation experience
• Good knowledge of Telecomm practices used in a Rail environment.
• An ability to see the system picture and understand installation problems when working in the Railway environment
