Job Summary
This role provides an excellent opportunity for you to demonstrate your exceptional technical knowledge and proven ability to lead your team. You will be responsible for the direction of your projects through the leadership of your technical delivery team, providing overall engineering support to the project team and with responsibility for costs and control.
Key Objectives
- Management of daily activities/ responsibilities of system engineers.
- Analysis of complex technical requirements into work packages and management of technical teams in delivering solutions to these packages.
- Act as single point of contact with client representatives on all matters relating to project engineering aspects.
- Support Project Management in all aspects relating to Project Engineering.
- Production of client format method statements for all design related trackside activities.
- Manage all design site surveys (pre and post installation) and produce reports as required by the associated contract.
- Detailed materials ordering lists (for all materials) backed up with recommended supplier information, procurement specifications and quotations.
- Carry out regular design (recorded) reviews to demonstrate design compliance with project requirements.
- Responsible for the delivery, quality, accuracy and sign off of all design documentation prior to issue to the PM or client.
- Ensure compliance with client contractual and telent procedures in the production of all engineering project Deliverables.
- Produce detailed requirement verification documentation, which demonstrate compliance with the agreed requirements.
Requirements
Experience in leading a team of engineers in the delivery of system solutions incorporating some of the following technologies : -
- Transmission (SDH and PDH) – specific experience of Alcatel and Ericsson products a benefit
- Cable Networks (Fibre and Copper).
- Customer Information Systems
- Driver Only Operated CCTV
- SCADA
- Radio Systems (GSMR, CSR, NRN)
- Telephone Concentrators/PBX
- Lineside Operational Communications.
You will be self-motivated and able to work without direction whilst being a real team player. Confident in your decision-making capabilities, you are an effective communicator with the ability to influence across all levels and work positively with both your customer and your team.
Desirable Skills
- First Degree or HND (or near equivalent) in Electronic Engineering or associated subject
- Membership of the IRSE or IEE highly desirable
- Chartered Engineer
- Knowledge of mainline railway environment highly desirable
- Knowledge of system design and service delivery in a safety related or high reliability customer environment (e.g. Railway, emergency services, chemical industry) Knowledge of Network Rail product approval procedures
- Knowledge of Network Rail Company and Group standards
